- The bottom number in a fraction — how many total parts
- In 3/8, the 8 is the denominator — the pizza has 8 slices total.

- Different fractions that show the same amount
- 1/2 and 2/4 are equivalent fractions — they're both half the pizza!

A fraction represents a part of a whole. The bottom number (denominator) shows how many equal parts the whole is divided into, and the top number (numerator) shows how many of those parts you have.
