Privacy Policy

Your child's safety and privacy are our top priority. We designed Open Learning Labs to be completely private from the ground up.

Last updated: August 2026

The Short Version

  • The games here need no account, and children never have one
  • Progress stays on your device, and we keep no names
  • There are no ads and no trackers
  • In the iOS app, optional sign-in is used only for cloud sync
  • You can export or erase everything, from inside each game

Young Learner Privacy

Open Learning Labs is designed for young learners. Nothing a child uses asks them to sign in, and there are no accounts for children anywhere. The games on this website need no account at all; the iOS math app can be used in Guest mode, with optional Apple or Google sign-in for a grown-up who wants progress to follow a child between devices.

The Games On This Website

The typing game and Learning Lab keep everything in your browser's own storage: progress, settings, and which children share the device. We store none of it, because there is nowhere to send it — the site is a set of static files with no server behind it. By default a child is a number and a color; a grown-up can optionally add a nickname per child, which stays on the device the same as everything else and is never uploaded. We keep no record of what was typed, which key was pressed by mistake, or which answer was chosen, only counts and totals. The typing game contacts no other server at all; Learning Lab may load narration audio from audio.openlearninglabs.com when read-aloud is on. Each game's Grown-ups' Corner can export everything it holds, or erase it.

Information We Collect

From the website: nothing. From the iOS app in Guest mode: nothing. Signed-in iOS users may provide an email address or Apple Private Relay address, display name, and progress data so the app can sync progress across devices.

On-Device Data

In the iOS app, learning progress, avatar preferences, pet selections, and shop rewards are stored locally using Apple's built-in storage (SwiftData/AppStorage). Guest mode remains local-only. Deleting the app removes Guest data from the device. On the website, clearing your browser's data for this site removes everything the games have saved.

No Advertising or Tracking

Open Learning Labs contains zero advertisements. We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or third-party data collection tools. We do not track your child's behavior across apps or websites. There are no cookies, pixels, or fingerprinting technologies used.

Payments

Nothing here is for sale. The games on this website are free and complete, and the first iOS build will have no in-app purchases, paid tiers, external payments, or paid unlocks.

Third-Party Services

Open Learning Labs does not use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies. Lesson and video pages show YouTube videos: the player is not loaded until you press play, it is served from youtube-nocookie.com, and the still image beside a video card comes from YouTube's image host. The typing game and Learning Lab contain no embeds of any kind.
