What your child is using, in plain terms
Open Learning Labs makes video lessons, browser games, and (soon) an iOS app for kids ages 5–11 / Kindergarten–Grade 5. Every product on this page is free, requires no account, and keeps progress on the device that earned it.
What each product is for
Video Lessons
ages 6–9Free episodes with an objective, vocabulary, standards alignment, and a quiz, hosted by Ava & Hannah on YouTube.
Typing Game
ages 6–9Five worlds and 33 lessons teaching the correct finger for every key. Plays in the browser, works offline, needs no account.
Learning Lab
Grades K–5Untimed reasoning puzzles across five subjects. A wrong answer explains itself and the child chooses again — nothing to fail.
iOS Math App
Grades 2–3A Common Core math adventure with mini-games and a Parent Dashboard. Not on the App Store yet — this page previews it.
How a session works
There are no timers to beat and no accounts to create. A wrong answer shows what was missed and the rule behind it, and the child chooses again — nothing is called a failure, and nothing locks a child out.
What is measured
Accuracy and participation — never speed, and never against other children. There are no leaderboards or rankings anywhere on this site or in either game.
Privacy
- No accounts, ads, chat, or leaderboards in either game.
- Progress is saved only on the device that earned it, using the browser's own storage — nothing is uploaded anywhere by default.
- What is stored is aggregate counts and settings, never a name, free text a child typed, or which wrong key or answer they chose.
- Optional grown-up cloud sync is planned so a family's progress can follow them between devices, but it is not built into either game yet and will never be required to play.
Full details live in our Privacy Policy.
Several children, one device
Each child gets their own profile — a color and an animal, so a sibling can tell theirs apart at a glance — kept separate from every other profile on the device. Creating, switching, and removing a profile is a grown-up action from inside each game's Grown-ups' Corner; a child cannot reach a sibling's progress from inside play.
How content is made
Every lesson, puzzle, and script is original and standards-aligned, written and reviewed by people before it ships. Art and narration are generated offline and reviewed by a person before publishing — nothing a child sees or hears is produced live, and no game contacts an AI or speech service at runtime.
Backing up or erasing progress
Each game's Grown-ups' Corner can export a child's progress to a file, restore one, or erase everything on that device. Erasing is immediate and permanent — there is no account to recover it from, because there is no account.
What's next
Optional grown-up sign-in is planned, to carry a child's progress between devices. It is not active in any shipped build today, and playing will never require it.
